"hoods run down" safe?

I know the last note is 16 hz. If my subs freq. only goes down to 25, as well as my amps, is that bad for my sub or will my SSF just filter it out? Does the amp have any part in how low the sub can play? I have been thinking about getting a 12 or 15' FI Q. Would that be able to get as low as 16 hz safely?

There are many things that will tell you whether or not it's ok to play subsonic frequencies. If your amp has a subsonic filter, the sub will not be getting much power at that frequency and so it shouldn't hurt the sub unless the filter is set correctly. A subsonic filter might not be needed though as the enclosure can play a large role in the mechanical limits of the driver with a given power. Some sealed subs may need a SSF and some may not. The same goes for pretty much all enclosure types.

In the case of the Fi Q, there would be some enclosures that might require a SSF and some that may not.

Whether or not you need protection for subsonic frequencies is very install dependent.
