quick questions about ports?

I'm building a box for 2 15" subs, 7 cubes net tuned to 35hz. After calculating the amount port area for the desired tuning frequency does it matter where on the box the port opening is eg. bottom, side, middle? How far from the back door of my suv(01 montero limited) does the opening of the port need to be? Or can u help with a design lol, max dimensions are 35" W x 25" x 22", thanks

In general, you want the port end to be at least its width away from any wall.
