quick Q: HD TV resolutions

Kind of like an IASCA sound disc. Its a DVD that has different color bars and shapes and stuff to help you set your TV properly.

Just shows a variety of images bent on tuning a certain adjustment being brightness, contrast, color, backlight, sharpness, etc...

I use Nvidia's calibration software.

Anyways, what's wrong w/ calibrating the screen ? If anything, every store should calibrate them. It makes it a hell of a lot easier to sell TVs, not to mention calibration hardware or calibration services.

100% agree; It cuts on energy costs and improves picture quality. But only one of those benefits sees a "hard" monetary gain and the idiots that run CC or BB probably wouldnt invest the time to do it...

well maybe ill pick on of those things up.

so i talked to this guy at sears and he was saying the picture from a good brand 720p would be better than an ok brand 1080p. for example, he was saying a samsung 720p would look better than a magnavox 1080i. what do you guys think of that? he also said LG sux, but i always thought they were good. theyre not exactly cheap or anything.

None of those are bad, but I wouldn't say anything is the best. Those are probably just the top selling ones. Like I said earlier, I think the best bang for the buck out there is the Vizio
