quick Q: HD TV resolutions

get a 1080 set ,really at 1080p and 1080 most people dont notice a differance

hell i cant see a differance of 720p vs 1080p on my 47"

i think the 1080p is a marketing thing

720p looks great

i means that the picture is interlaced. It refreshes every other line on a given pass. p means that the screen refreshes using a progressive scan, meaning every line is refreshed on a given pass.

The progressive scan will make it so that images are sharper, and you won't get blurring on smaller text(like the ESPN ticker or game scores). Because of this, I like using 720p as opposed to 1080i, even though 1080i has more lines of resolution. You won't notice a difference with 1080p unless you go with a 42"+ tv

yeah im getting a 1080. but i dunno the difference between i and p or whatever. target has what appears to be a killer deal on a 32" magnavox 1080i. its like $598 or something. thats a good $3-400 less than the others in the same category. does that seem odd?

no it doesnt seem odd cause its a magnavox, something really nice like a samsung or sony bravia is going to be around 1000 or so

sorry i re-read and i dont wanna sound like a D*** but thats a decent tv its just the brand that makes it cheaper

well i also saw a 42" phillips 1080p for $999. that was **** nice. so it aint worth it unless its 42" huh? i must get a 42" then lol. i could swing that much i think. plus you get 10% if you open a target charge. so worth it.

and i thought phillips and magnavox merged, wtf?

the majority of LCD screens are built in like 4 different factories. Stores just mess with the settings to make more expensive stuff look better.

Best bang for your buck LCD is probably the Vizio line

magnavox is good...or at least they were lol. my current TV is a 25" magnavox from 1991. bought it brand new for $317. still works perfect, which is why magnavox is good in my mind. have they gone downhill or something?

also plasmas tend to look a little better with darks than lcd

i got a lcd and I wish i had gone plasma

the picture is great but mt friends plasmas looks great with dark colors

The 1080p isn't worth it on a smaller screen, but HD in general is. Hell, my laptop screen is HD and it kicks the crap out of my TV.

And they did merge, but they still label their own products. Just like all the GM cars are the same thing with different badges
