Quick firewall question

If I can manage to fit 1/0 into a pre-existing hole (with a lot of force) would that be okay to just have it like that? no gromet/padding necessary?

You need a gromet if the hole is on bare metal, to be safe at least.

It's hard for me to see the hole, I can only feel it, hard to tell if it's plastic or metal..bad to assume that honda made the hole safe?

Is it that far up the firewall? If you feel and dont cut yourself chances are it is probably plastic, that metal will cut or at least scratch you very easy.

what honda? all of them are easy to get through the firewall.

YES you need protection (rubber gromment) if your going through metal.

If you cant tell for sure, I would just drill another hole and secure it with a gromet before pulling the wire through. Then you will know for sure.

98 accord, right now I have 8 guage and its ran through this hole on the left (passenger) side kinda under the fuse box, kinda deep and there's a lotta stuff over it so I can barely see it through all the stuff, just followed the 8 guage with my hand. Not even sure if I will be able to fit the 1/0 though. But yeah it didn't seem sharp at all, plus there are other wires being ran through there too

I really hope I won't have to do any drilling, if I use a hole where other wire is being ran through already (stock) then no grommet needed?

So drill? I thought it was best to avoid drilling and use pre-existing holes if possible..or are you just saying it's not a good idea to run it next to other wires

run it with the other wires, i would, no need to drill if a hole is present, if its stock then its protected

btw.. i have 3/0 wire going thru my firewall with no grommet i drilled the hole and clean as i could and shaved it with sandpaper, the reason there is no grommet is because to squeeze the wire thru i had to drill in between two bolts by my fuse box and thats the largest i could go, with the grommet in place i couldn't get the wire thru, i did wrap some tape around it tho just to help
