Questions regarding the differences between a ported and T-line box

A t-line enclosure it what the Bose wavelength radio uses. Its a superlong winding port. If the port in your box is 20 some inches, imagine a port that winds back and forth and ends up being 100 or 200 inches long. I know my sub manual specifically says not to be used in such an enclosure. I would not recommend it. I think its used mainly to magnify and produce bass from small speakers

Generally, a tline has a theoretical +1.5db gain in output and better low end extension. But the boxes get HUGE. Nobody really builds tlines anyway. What you see are actually quarter waves.

They do sound amazing and if you have a smaller sub(s) like an 8 or a pair of 8's, you could get it into a car, but bigger than that and it's crazy. I saw a tline for a pair of 15's in a truck. The box was 25 cubic feet.

Do a googel search for tline or quarter wave. There is a ton of info on them out there.
