ok, i currently have coax speakers. ive been told they ****, and to get component speakers and midbasses. ok the only difference i know between coax and comp's is that on comp's you can tweak the crossover to get the best combo between the built in tweeter, midbass, and speaker. is that right?

also, do the door midbasses need there own box? or how would that work?

Not quite. I think you are thinking more of triaxial speakers, not components. Components have 2 seperate speakers, a tweeter and a sub/midbass/speaker/whatever else you wanna call it, and you are correct that you hook them up to a crossover. The crossover will basically filter the frequencies from the music and send the appropriate ones to the corresponding driver: ie - the highs to the tweeter, etc. As far as I know, all of the crossovers I've used are not adjustable, tho. The only adjustments to them can be made on your head unit, amp, or both.

And you do not need a box for mids //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/fyi.gif.9f1f679348da7204ce960cfc74bca8e0.gif Just screw em in like a regular speaker...

yes. more is never enough.

I actually believe that every one is bulking up on sub bass

and leaving alot of mid / high frequencys lacking in my opinion,

but im crazy, and I have 9 speakers in my car, so..... to each their own.

I like a powerful full range of sound.

that really depends on the set of comps in question. my alpine spx-177r passive x-overs have a ton of ways i can tweak their settings.

and also - alot of crossovers have settings for the tweets.

you can use them on +3db or +0db or -3db depending on how you like how they sound.

but there is no filters or anything like that on most of them for you to mess with.

plug in - and play.

how much do theese ajustable ones go for ? = alpine spx-177r passive x-overs
