My memphis 1000d has a sub remote control thing that attaches to the amp and adjusts the bass. I'm guessign that this really adjusts the gain? Is it ok to use this or does it send a crappy signal to your amp? Also when setting your gain, I have read to turn your eq to flat and everything off, but wouldnt you end up boosting the siganl when turning your eq back to how you like?

that remote is a gain control and it should work fine. all it dose is take control of the gain so you can adj it from your seat. some amps, though, you will need to turn the main gain up allmost all the way then use the remote control to adjust the output. and yes, you set all your eq's to flat, bass boost off and lets say you want 1000 watts at 2 ohms. you take 1000x2=2000, find the sq route(44.72) and use a 50hz test tone recorded at 0 db and adjust the gain untill you get the target voltage. be shure to set the volt meter to vac.

So am I spose to leave the eq on flat, or what do you guys do?

ive done it that way for over 15 years and have never fried anything. best thing to do is to call the manufacture and ask them. for an example, go to jl audio's web sight and look at ther gain setting page or go to the ones on this sight.
