Questions on a used BMW with pics

The car is a 2000 BMW 540i 6 spd with the ///M package it has 91,023 miles on it. The price the local dealer is asking is $18,900. My questions are if anyone here has experience with the cars. Such as are they hard to do simple maintenance on etc.

This will also be my first manual ****** car, I did learn how to drive one 2 yrs ago. I am extremely interested in it but I want to see what others think first.

I think thats a little steep for almost 100k on an 8 year old car

I had an 02' 325i - repairs, maintenance, and parts are expensive.

Had to replace power steering... with a used rack and new pump I had about $1000 in parts, I did the work myself.

Window regulators are a problem - around 100 for each window when those go, not a huge deal if you do it yourself.

I loved the car, though.

If you have 18k to spend on a car... Look at an M3.... 03-06 M3s are basically one of my dream cars

parts are really expensive so get ready

I had a 90 e30 and the cap and rotor was about $80

spark plug wires where $240

Looks sexy but the only problem is that maintenance is expensive for bmw's and even more so when you take it to a shop to do work. If you don't mind the maintenance aspect of it then I would probably get it. Just get a lower price

Youre crazy if you are going to pay that much. I dont know about your area, but in other areas I have looked they are much cheaper.

Mine too...but you wont find an e46 M3 for under 20k.

Almost 100k miles, almost 20grand, that's a lot of money. I would definitely pass and get something with actual lower mileage and afford maintenance on.
