I have a 32' Sunsation Offshore and Im trying to design my system for it. heres what I have so far.
18- Alpine 6x9's SPS-690A w/ 2 Diesel Audio 2000.4's
4 -12" Kicker L7's w/ 1 Kicker 1000.1 Class D
6 - Polk Audio tweeters w/ Kicker 250.2
The reason that Im going with a cheaper amp (Diesel Audio) is the moisture level inside the cabin of the boat is pretty high. In my last boat I was replacing amps about every 3 years.
The 6x9's are in the gunnels on either side of the boat and are in a custom fiberglass panel that aim the vertically placed 6x9's up and out of the cockpit. Ill have 7 on each side behind the drivers/passenger bolsters and 2 more in the front by the driver/passenger. The tweeters will be spaced across the gunnels by the driver/passenger seats so that you can still hear the music at top speed and over the exhaust noise of the motors (LOUD).
For this summer, the subs will be mounted in the Vberth bed area facing straight back. The reason for this is that I wont be able to give up my rear bench seat for a month while they fiberglass a custom rear seat that would be capable of holding the subs until this fall.
Here are my problems. I want to be able to listen to the music at a moderate volume all day long. We primarily use the boat at our local Party Cove and with the flat deck on the boat, it makes a great dance platform for the girls. The boat is only equipped with two batteries. One on each motor.
I will need to add more battery power to necissitate the amps draw. Instead of adding 300 lbs of marine batterys (5 or 6) Im thinking of using one of these:

It will fit in the compartment that is a step into the cabin of the boat.
Do you think that this battery will provide me with 8 hours 0f music with the system im looking at?
The problem is I dont want to weigh down the boat so much that it loses its performance capabilities..
And also. Do I have to run a ground wire from the amps alllll the way back to the batteries??
What about having the subs inside the cabin? Is this going to kill a lot of the sound? We need to be able to hear the music while we are swimming behind the boat.
Thanks for the help, guys.
