Questions and Questions and Questions Oh My!

Well I'm now getting the question asked by my friends, "You're STILL working on your stereo!?!?!" So I really need to make the finishing touches...

I have a 2003 GMC Sierra Regular cab, base model 4x4

The stock alternator is 105A

The stock AC Delco battery is 725CC

I have 2 10" Kicker L7 4 Ohm DVC subs (2400 Peak Watt/ 1200 RMS) wired at 1 Ohm to a Massive N3 amp (2800 Peak Watt/ 1400 RMS)

I am in the process of creating my shopping list for the Big 3 Upgrade, alternator and battery (In that order from what I have researched)

Question 1) With the Big 3 upgrade, I have researched that a fuse should be added between the positive alternator and positive battery. What size fuse should I get? Where do I get it (link or details please)

Question 2) What High Output Alternator should I get? I have done little research for this part.

Question 3) I have researched that the Kinetic HC2400 battery would best match my stereo set up. Is this true? What about XS Power? Model size? Also, if it is recommended that I DO go with an HC2400, will it even fit under the hood of my truck as the primary battery or will I need to make mods?

Thanks everyone in advance for their opinions!!!

Take care,

Scott.

I don't fuse my big 3, but it's a good idea. I imagine you only need a fuse large enough to carry the alt's amperage.

I like Singer for alts although there are plenty of great alts out there. Ohio Generator being top of the heap. Excessive amperage is a good one too. I hear lots of good things about Tenney alts. Especially their prices. Any of those will be good. Shop those brands and see what fits your budget.

I'd go with XS power over Kinetic. And just get whatever size will fit under you hood without much fuss. i.e. - if you have a group 34 underhood, get the d3400.

We offer a few different alternators for your application. If you PM me, I'd be happy to provide some quotes for you. That may be one that we have on sale on our ebay store also. Can you please be sure to reply with the y/make/model/engine size in your message? Thank you very much!

when you fuse for the big three, then add a small fuse you have introduce a high impedance load into one of the most valuable upgraded lines, so I guess it's 0g and about 3' long a normal anl fuse holder and twp 300 amp fuses stacked will provide safety(safety being that you crash and the wire shorts or one of your connections fail) while not hindering the upgrade.
