Okay. So my old Soundstream 500 2 channel amp is blown. It was bridged to 2 JL12w6. I am purchasing a JL 1000/1 amp tommorow. Can I just switch the amp out and it will work? Or do I have to do something else to make it work?
So why would you reccomend against JL?I wouldnt go jl but it should work... More info???

That's something I've alway's found pretty funny about some of the guy's on here. They talk about how overpriced JL is and they suggest all these other amp's that only do 1000rms@1ohm and try to compare it to a JL which does it at 1.5-4ohms like you stated. I don't think you will find many amp's for a better price that will do power like the JL does. If only I had the money to put one in my car!He is probably a member of the typical ca.com "there is better for less" JL Audio bashing committee.
I generally don't care for a strictly regulated power supply, but that amp does make rated power between 1.5 and 4 ohms. Find me a Class D amp that makes 1,000 watts RMS @ 4 ohms that is "better for less!"
Sometimes I like to bash back by saying they bash JL Audio because can't afford it OR mommy and daddy only give them enough money to purchase prior year closeout Hifonics BXi series amplifiers:laugh:That's something I've alway's found pretty funny about some of the guy's on here. And to the OP as long as you have at least 4 gauge wiring and the amp see's 1.5-4ohms you can do a direct swap. Those W6's are going to be amazing on that amp.
word, i got my pdx1000 for $280, im running my si magv3 @4ohms. If that isnt a good buy I don't know what isHe is probably a member of the typical ca.com "there is better for less" JL Audio bashing committee.
