I am looking to buy a fairly decent pair of 5.25" coaxials for my car. Im not looking to spend alot, becase i will be getting a new car in the summer, and all the cars im looking at have 6.5" fronts so these will be staying in my buick. I will just run them off my headunit(alpine CDA 9851). Also, since my headunit is kinda older it doesnt have a way to filter the speakers, so i usually have to have my bass turned to the negatives and i want it higher for the subs. What would be the best way to block bass from the front speakers?

ANy help is much appreciated. Thanks.

sensitivity is pretty low on the JL's, so I doubt they'd get very loud off HU power. Look for around 92dB efficiency if you only plan to use HU power.
Yea I was thinking the same thing, if you were hooking up a 2-Channel Amp, I'd go with the JL coax speakers you have there...

These Infinity speakers do not need too much power to get loud, they have a 93dB sensitivity rating: http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_9559_Infinity+Reference+6022si+Shallow-Mount.html

Or maybe some Boston Acoustics, they make speakers that are made to run off factory decks or after-market head units:

I've heard the Infinity speakers off a head unit and they sound fine and should do well and I use a Boston 3.5" as my center channel off my head-unit in addition to 2 MB Quart speakers run off an amp and it sounds great too..

Whatever you choose, look for a high sensitivity rating and lower power requirements

K thanks for the help.....those infinitis have a 2ohm impedance.....will my headunit be able to handle that?
