Question...

I hope to soon pick up a JL 1000/1(or something similar power wise) to power the 12w7 i am getting.(either that or another w6v2 haven't decided yet)...

Can someone please tell me everything i need to have, starting from the battery back to the amp...(fuses, wire size, anything that i will need to get enough power to the amp....

0/1 gauge wire from battery to distribution block(and i need to know where to put it)

100 amp fuse after battery

0/1 gauge from block to chassis

4 gauge power/ground after block

Please tell me anything else i will need, or if this isn't correct...

You could actually just run 4 guage from battery to amp for power, to simple it up a bit. But if you are going to distro block way, then that is all correct. Except I dont understand the block to chassis cable, if you are going to do this then why not do the rest of the big 3 along with it?

Is there a way to do it without a distribution block, because most people that i have seen with a 1000/1 use them?

if u dont plan on running multiple amps u dont need one. its good to have tho that way when u install comps you easly hook an amp to them

Yes you can just run 4 guage from battery to the amp, fused of course. And the Big 3 is always good to do... When done properly it makes a notiable difference.

I was at a stop light with my HU at 13/35 (somewhere around there), and a cop came up next to me. My head lights were dimming, and he rolled down his window and told me I better get it checked out... //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/rolleyes.gif.c1fef805e9d1464d377451cd5bc18bfb.gif

Well I did the Big 3 and now have no dimming, using the amp in my sig. It has 4 x 30amp fuses, and I have a stock 105amp alt, so it helped a lot (the Big 3 that is.)

Yes. And big 3upgrade would help but is not necessary.

Depends on the amp, not the guage of wiring. Whatever amp you get, you should fuse it to the maximum current draw of that amp. So if your amp has four 30amp fuses (like mine) then you should get a 120amp fuse.

fuse for the wire size... not for the amp size

if i were you... 1/0 from battery to rear... distro block... and 4 gauge to the amp... you don't have to get a ground distro block just run 4 gauge ground to your amp....
