ok i have a question.... i have a pioneer premier p860 HU and the preouts are 6.5V..... my amp is a rockford fosgate power 1001bd and i read in the manual that its input sensitivity is from 600mV to 6V is my HU too powerful for my amp, i mean would it be sending it too much signal? i really duno because that seems the case, the amp is performing fine right now but i was seein if i should do anything about it, thanks!

Just make sure your gains are set properly, follow the tutorial.

One thing to keep in mind; That 6.5V isn't a constant, typically they only put out their rated voltage at or close to full volume. As you turn the volume down, the preouts voltage output goes down. As you turn the volume up, the voltage ouput goes up. Generally, when listening to your stereo with music at a normal listening level, I'd be surprised if your HU was ever outputting more than 3V
