I think his point was that if you don't believe, then why not do whatever you can get away with? And I think you guys are answering that question.

although we dont fear punishment after death, i dont think we want to sit in a cell for the rest of my life.

I dont think christians refrain from murdering people because they're concerned about what god thinks. Maybe they wouldn't sin at all if that was the case. I think its because they're generally good people. Just like i think that most others are good people. We just do shitty things sometimes. Like rap.

As to that then...I do anything i can get away with, but it is based on morals after all. Its not so bad to want to be liked and if everyone ran around being assholes all day then the world would be a pretty crappy place to live. At the end of the day people just want to be happy

1.) wouldn't it benefit you to hoard everything now, i mean right now, since you believe there is no afterlife? Hoard what?
2.) to hoard more, you probably have to do some sheisty things. but why wouldn't you do it, since ultimately, you'd have no one to answer to? There are still laws to abide by

3.) does an atheists have morals?? if so, where do they come from/what are they based on? I have morals. They were instilled upon me by my parents. Although some of them may coincide with my parents religion, just because i don't believe in what they believe in, doesn't mean that i stay away from all activity that may be considered good

4.) if u are an atheist with morals, why? who or what does it benefit? It benefits myself, and the world that I'm a part of. I have morals to benefit the well being of the world. I try to treat people how i'd like to be treated. Why would I have to be religous in order to be treated well and treat people well.

5.) if an atheists says 'i'ma good person', who are you/they comparing themselves to? When I say i'm a good person, I don't compare myself to anybody. I simply look at how my friends and family view me. And I look at what kind of an impact i've had on peoples lives. If the good outweighs the bad, by definition i'd more of a good person, than a bad person

6.) instead of beleiving in God, do atheists believe strictly in brain power/human intelligence only? In regards to what? Everyday life? I believe I am in control of my life. There is no fate in my opinion.

7.) would an atheist ever practice yoga or meditation? looking at the background and the the intended purposes of both of these, why would you/they? I don't practice either. But if I found myself extremely stressed out, i could see myself using them as a way to relax. Or maybe yoga to increase my flexibility. but I wouldn't ever use either of these as a way to connect to something greater seeing as how I don't believe in any higher powers.

9.) do atheists try to discredit religions that are not one of the big 3?to me, i always hear about atheists hating christianity only (so it seems)

 

8.) this is my favorite one, but i never got an answer to it....... if humans descendend from apes, why do apes still exist, since humans are more advantageous?? ((u don't have to answer this, but i always wanted to know. its a silly question, but i like it.)) There must still be a reason for apes on the planet in order to keep everything in balance. You just might not know what they are. I think a better question is, if humans evolved from apes, is there any reason the Apes SHOULDN'T still be here?

I got through the first 4 questions and see repetitive BS.

 

You don't need to believe in a GOD to believe there is proper way to conduct ones self. The ten commandments are DUHS imo. We as a social creature do think about the consequence our actions bring on the entire species to an extent(well most of us anyway). We are governed by the need to propel our species. Maybe I missed something by not continuing with your question, but I got bored with it's mindless dribble by 4.

Sorry if I've missed any important posts by not reading the rest of the thread, but I will answer the questions posed by the OP from my perspective.

Whether there is an afterlife or not, the value of possessions is still the same. I have no need to hoard anything, and thus do not.

Because I wouldn't want someone to do the same to me. It is also deemed illegal, so I would have someone (the people) to answer to.

I can't speak for all atheists. The only thing we have in common is a disbelief in god(s). However, my beliefs are predominantly based in the application of logic; I will not do something to someone else that I would not like done to me.

It benefits the society. I already explained why above.

Again, I can't speak for anyone else. Personally, I have never said "I'm a good person" because there is no way to define that. However, you have asked a perfectly good question that applies to all human beings on this planet.

I personally believe in the power and application of the human mind only.

I'm sure one atheist has done this somewhere before. Would I? No. I will make a dangerous supposition that one who meditates or practices yoga does so to gain control of their mind and body....no religion necessary.

Do I? Yes. There is no value in religion that cannot be provided from another more reasonable source; however, there are many detractors to religion.

These questions are easily answered if you look for them yourself. If I remember correctly, the species that we evolved from does not exist anymore. There were in fact two species that evolved from this same primate: one became the modern chimp, and the other eventually became us...**** sapiens sapiens.
