Putting a different sub in factory Subwoofer Box 2004 explorer

I was thinking about trying a shallow mount pioneer 8" subwoofer in my factory enclosure in my 2004 Explorer. I will be powered by an "old" punch 100.

Has anyone tried that??

Do you think it will sound decent or crap?

I just dont want to put a box with 12"'s or anything in the back.

itll work if the factory sub is indeed an 8"

Look into a JL Audio 8w0, just double check the mounting depths. I'm 99% sure that will work in there however.

Im pretty sure it is an 8", Im up for doing it but im worried that it will sound like total crap.

if its a sealed box, itll sound just how the woofer is supposed to sound in a sealed box

It shouldn't sound like crap unless the enclosure is not sealed up or is the wrong size altogether. Last time I checked, it's pretty common to install an 8 inch aftermarket sub in there....been awhile since I've looked into it though, so my memory is cloudy.
