Punch HX2 15 problem

My buddy has a Punch HX2 D4 15". I told him how to wire it according to the12volt.com, and he wired it up to his home amp to test it. Its an older Punch, it has the 3D RF logo on it.

The sub did not move, but he decided to push the cone gently, and the sub will only move if you push the cone down all the way. It will not move otherwise. Is there any way to fix it or is it just good for a recone?

Maybe he has the coils wired backwards and is just building up heat on the vc?

Otherwise its the tinsel, you can pop off the dust cap and fix pretty easily IMO> look on youtube for recone videos or something. someone on this forum can probably help you.

I've never had a DVC sub, and neither has he.. so I explained it best I could.. he tried to get it working on one VC but it didn't move, and when he wired both coils up, he said it was getting warm, but I figured thats because the sub isn't moving too cool itself with him pushing the cone in.
