Protect Mode

Just contacted Kicker about how i can play my amplifier at a loud setting when my car is off, but the moment i turn it on i cant play it as loud before it goes into protect mode. He says it could be a grounding issue or the Remote Turn-on isnt solid. Does this sound like it could be it?

grounds, bad alternator, or improper speaker wiring.

I can't see the turn on affecting it going into protect mode.

measure battery voltage at the battery with the car off, then start the car and measure again.

You should get 12V +/-1volt and 14.4V +/-1volt respectively. If not then I would disconnect the amp wires and retest, still fails then you have alternator/battery issues.

If not then perhaps a defective amp or bad cabling.

i had it proffesionally installed by a small local shop, so i doubt its my wiring, but who knows!I have a feeling its the alternator or something. I wired the subs myself into the box, so it may be tehre but i really doubt it since i can play them loud with the car off. ill get my hands on a multimeter, do i measure at the amps terminals for these voltages?

when your car is off unless you have a deep cycle battery you probably wont be able to play it very long at high volumes. amps can go into protect when there isnt enough voltage. every amp ive owned once voltage drops below 10 volts they shut down.

Lol ts wierd that when im driving i have to technically let them "warm up" like i can slowly increase my volume as i drive but i never get past 24 while driving. If im parked and car is off i can play safely at 33.
