~Project Avalanche~ Series 6th Order Bandpass Rebuild.

How do you afford all this stuff all the time? Arent you like 20 and in full time school? Or do your parents give ya cash and free rent or something. Just curious, and kinda jealous. I work 50 hours weeks and after rent/gas/food Im down to like $120/week my money, and this rebuild has gotta be over the 3k mark:crazy:
The only thing my parents pay for is the insurance on my vehicle, which im very grateful for.

Yes im a full time student.

I'm also a deck boss on a commercial fishing boat, and i help run a rock crusher when im not fishing. AKA, my summers = no fun, just work.

It pays for my hobbies though.

its a bit of a hybrid style box. Essentially you can model a box like this as a ported box, but in the case of my vehicle, modeling the box as a series 6th order with the clamshell being a chamber is much more accurate in terms of computer modeling.
With my last box, which was a "ported" box tuned to 33hz, i peaked at 29hz. When that box was modeled as a 6th order, the math showed it would peak at 29hz, just as it did.

So, we took an approach as modeling this as a 6th order box just for vehicle response reasons. I wouldnt call this a standard ported box, nor a full blown 6th order due to the fact that the front "chamber" doesnt really have anything for port other than a beauty panel.

Starting to prime and paint the box now, pics up later.
either way its looking great. i see what youre saying about the design. it looks like it should get pretty **** loud and hit the lows well with that kind of tuning.

sorry for the slow updates everyone, this is the semester from HELL.

I just threw on the last of the silver, clear coat will go on when i am back from the gym. Pics up later tonight.

Lesson learned. Metallic paint doesnt like clear coat //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/laugh.gif.48439b2acf2cfca21620f01e7f77d1e4.gif Even the lightest covering of clear would run on the metallic stuff, so i went back and touched up as best as i could. You can see in one of the pics how the clear coat would run. I went back over it with what i had left of the remaining metallic paint, and it came out alright. There is one spot right at the mouth of the box thats bugging me, but it wont really be visible when all said and done.

Other then that, it came out great! Some of the metallic paint seeped under the tape onto the black port, so i still need to go back and touch that up. Now i just gotta mount the top of the box on, put the subs in, and start playing in the truck rather than in the garage.

Almost looks like its not painted due to reflection

And here is an example of the running clear coat i was talking about, right in the bottom left corner of the pic. Luckily the beauty panel will hide this.

just put the top of the box on, waiting for the glue to cure, then i'll be siliconing the interior edges and painting the outside to seal it up from weather.

Also finished running most of the wire, still need to do the 1/0 runs for the batteries and amp underneath the truck, but as for interior wiring, its pretty much done. I only had to add a wire for the bass control knob and LED toggle switches.

pics up later! gym time.

Progress this morning as well. Im really trying to at least get the box in the truck today, so i can start building in the amp rack and battery rack

but then, i have more tests to study for //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif
