rear chamber is at 30.8 hz. on paper, the box should peak at 38hz in my truck, so we'll see how close the math is

FINALLY a little bit of progress today.

I got a bunch of other crap done and out of the way today, including another truck i had to build a box/do an install for. Ssoo, other than a couple of homework assignments this week, i should be able to do a bit of work over the next couple days.

I pulled out the 1/0 that was still in my truck, as well as some other random wires that i didnt need anymore, and ripped out the back seat to get ready for amp rack/sub box stuff.

Heres a couple pics i snagged in the process.

The wiring still intact perfectly from when i put it in a year ago

Pulling the last remaining 1/0 fleks out

Cleaned up the garage a little bit

Caulking the sides before i put the top on and begin priming/painting.

may i ask too why you're re-running wire everytime you do another build? why don't you just leave the one from the previous build in?

My battery bank is in a different location, I need longer runs. The 1/0 I pulled out will be used for amp to battery bank connections.

call me silly, but that doesnt look like a sixth order bandpass, but rather a ported box.

its a bit of a hybrid style box. Essentially you can model a box like this as a ported box, but in the case of my vehicle, modeling the box as a series 6th order with the clamshell being a chamber is much more accurate in terms of computer modeling.

With my last box, which was a "ported" box tuned to 33hz, i peaked at 29hz. When that box was modeled as a 6th order, the math showed it would peak at 29hz, just as it did.

So, we took an approach as modeling this as a 6th order box just for vehicle response reasons. I wouldnt call this a standard ported box, nor a full blown 6th order due to the fact that the front "chamber" doesnt really have anything for port other than a beauty panel.

Starting to prime and paint the box now, pics up later.

well, i was just about to post up some pics...... but photobucket is down for maintenance.

For paint, i went with a metallic silver for the box (which is turning out MUCH nicer than i thought it would) and the bottom/top/back of the port is going to be a standard black (the port sides will be silver)

I got the first few coats of silver on, and im about to go finish that up. Clear coat will go on tomorrow, then i can put the top of the box on.

After thats done i have to

-paint the outside of the box to seal it up from water

-mount up the subs

-put the box in and run wiring!

oh, and i ordered up a couple million-color LED strips for the inside of the box today. I am curious to see how they do with the silver.
