Or, if the battery in the remote isn't the problem possibly the antenna needs to be re-routed so it'll pick up better?

tried the battery thing and that didn't work. the only thing that looked like an anttena was a small black wire. i grounded thqat to my truck to try and make my truck the antenna, but that onlt worked for a few hours. now i have no idea what to do. any more advise.

Don't ground the antenna to the truck! The truck is the RF ground and counterpoise for the antenna, not the radiating element!

You likely ran the thing at such a high SWR that the transmitter folded back power and died - have it checked out by a local shop before trying anything else.

I barely know jack. I just see his post all the time about these types of things. He's apart of some club that deals with them if i'm not mistake. I just wouldn't want him(the origional poster) listening to people that have no idea what they're talking about, cjjackson //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif. I don't know the detailed specs of your alarm, but wiring the antenna element to the grounded frame is not good, not good at all. Running it like that for a length of time could very well have cooked something inside, and I would advise you to have a shop look at it before you try anything else //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif
