problem with suzuki hu install

I am trying to install a Pioneer deh-p740mp into my 1998 Suzuki Sidekick, but I am having a problem with getting the center console piece off. I unscrewed the screws behind the ashtray so that now the bottom bends out, but something is holding the top in place. I'm afraid to just pull it out because that is where the A/C controls are, and I would not be happy with myself if I damaged that. I pulled the A/C slider knobs off, but the console is still attached at the top. If anyone has any remote idea at all as to what could be holding it in place, I would be forever grateful.

on a suzuki swift there is 2 screws right above the HVAC controls. Also looking into the top vents i seen some cars with screws hidden in there.

I do not understand what you mean by HVAC or where this is located.

HVAC is your heating and air conditioner stuff- you knobs and what not
