i don't know if this is in the right section...if it ain't mods please move it, but i have a problem, i got a cd player installed in my car a couple of months ago, and the remote wire was getting pinched so they replaced it, when they did i notice a sound coming from my subs, they told me that it was a ground loop and it won't hurt anything so i said ok and went on my way, tonite i got in my car and turned it on, i could hear the ground loop like i do everyday, i ejected a cd and heard a pop like it usually does, but this time the subs did not come back on, they just turned off....i checked the fuses and everything is fine, amps turn on and everything works execpt the subs, could someone point me in the direction in which to correct this problem??? any help would be grateful, i'm tired of having something wrong with my system its driving me crazy....

i car stereo shop called outlaws......they told me that the ground loop will not hurt anything and i believed them, plus i was not going to pay 40 bucks an hour for them to trouble shoot the problem

They did this entire install?

And left you with a ground loop, and a pop from the cd player?

They need to fix that shit man.

What equipment are you running?

hu-panasonic cq-c8100u

sub amp- usamp merlin series 2 md22

subs 05 kicker l5 12

components- phoneix gold don't know the exact model

component amp-planet audio tt4400

yes they did the install, they told me that the ground loop would not effect anything, so i said ok i'll take their word for it, now if my subs are funked up there is going to be a problem, because that was not user error and i don't play my system loud enough to blow the subs

mine did this once, except the remote wire had came undone

do you have a volt meter/dmm?

if so unhook your sub and put the volt meter on ac and put the probes on the pos and neg wires coming form the amp and play a song see if there are any volts being produced

and check the ohms on the subs, they shouldnt be blown, but wouldnt hurt to check

i actually do not have one, but i do know someone who does, but now i have a **** flat tire and can't get another untill fri...**** 250 bucks for a tire....

also, the shop did the install..they LET YOU LEAVE WITH THIS PROBLEM..it IS their fault.

so casually go up there, tell them they let you leave with a ground loop that they said "won't hurt the subs" and something happened. demand them to fix/replace it, or your money back. if they argue, tell them to expect legal action.
