Problem with new avh-p4300dvd

I just had mine installed today and when everything was finished there was no sound. Car and stereo was fine for the 2 weeks i didnt have a HU. When we first started it up we heard a bit of static then nothing. I have a 2 channel now instead of a 4 channel and i still had my speaker wires from the rear and we touched them to the front wires and we heard noise in the rears but not from the front. Plus I think he might have did one of the wires wrong cause when i hold the menu down it says cannot be done while driving even while im parked and the car is just turned to acc. Im trying to think if i missed something on trying to explain this so if i did ill try and think of what.

Definitely sounds like a wiring issue.

What kind of vehicle?

Car is 350z...it had bose in it i believe but i had my 880prs in it 2 weeks ago and it was fine before the 880prs broke. He said he thought it was wiring to the front speakers but i just dont see how everything was fine and now its not all the sudden.

Do you have a DMM?

I would test the front speaker wire at the amp to make sure the wire/speakers are still good.

Well he hooked his ipod in the aux input in the amp and touched a tweeter he had to the pos and neg and it played music so would that mean its somewhere else???

What RCA's do you have running to the amp? Front, rear? Can you swap those around and see if anything changes?

Im gonna try that actually here in about 30mins.....i called the guy to see if that would have done anything but he said it wouldnt cause when he hooked up his ipod it should have by passed everything and played through the speakers but it didnt....dont know how much of that was true or if having the wrong rca's hooked up would have anything to do with that.

Wait, did he hook up a different tweeter than the one that is mounted in your car?

Yeah it was one that he had just laying around.....he went and got it and put it to the pos and neg of the fronts and thats when the music played...just not from my own speakers.

Well on the way home just now i heard some popping in the front speakers and then the deck shut off and i started smelling a bit of burning smell coming from the front speakers.....idk if it was something he wired wrong or some wiring in the door. I really think he hooked something up wrong in the deck. I havent got to look or switch anything around yet cause i dont have my tools ill have to do it in the morn.

No its hooked up to a SA 125.2.

If he hooked up a different tweeter to the amp and it worked fine then that leads me to believe your speakers or wiring is bad.

But all the sudden though??? Its just weird to me that it was fine with the other cd player and nothing has been changed or touched.

Did he test his separate speaker with the RCA's from the headunit plugged in instead of his ipod?
