Problem with my Tsunami db1100

Why you looking here?
I got it in the mail yesterday and I hooked it all up this morning. Well, when I turn on the radio, the amplifier will turn on but so would the protection light. The back lit light under tsunami is on but there is no output from the woofer and the protection light is always on (it is always in protection mode). I have it wired to 2ohms right now. I was planning to run it off the infinities until I have enough money for my 15A. Got any suggestion on how to fix this.

I checked all of my wiring and it looks right. I had my old MTX 4250D in there and all I did was change the wiring from 8 to 4 gauge. The ground is still in the same spot.

The amp hasn't produced any output and it is not hot so I don't think it overheated or anything.

Check the speaker wire and make sure its not touching on the box terminals, that happened to me, i didnt realize why the protection was on, after a few minutes of checking voltage and scratching our heads we realized all that was fine, the speaker wire was the problem. Also double check to make sure you wired the driver to 2 ohms.

well, I got it to work now. I just moved the speaker wire away from the amplifier and adjusted the gain and freqency. It's a great amp, the sound is clean and it's pretty powerful. I can't wait to run it at 1ohm with the 15A. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

Good luck getting that 1100d to be stable at 1 ohm. I have the same amp and it shuts down immediately at 1 ohm. Even when I hook it up at 2 ohms, occasionally it'll still go into protection. I never understood why. My voltage is good, the amp doesn't get warm, and the dust caps on my Image Dynamic SPL's are still cool. Usually it happens after about 15-20 min. of moderate use (moderate meaning not even at a high volume). It shuts for afew seconds and comes back for a few and so on until I turn the volume way down.

Yea, this thread is old. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wow.gif.23d729408e9177caa2a0ed6a2ba6588e.gif

I sold that amp last year but I got it to work fine even at 1ohm. It wasn't a bad amp. It was my first try at a amp install by myself and I didn't put the cables right. I took them out and fixed it and it worked fine.

Seems like this dude went around flamming all the db1100 threads.

Aparrently, not only do we have to tell the newbs to use the search button, we seem to have to tell them how not to use it. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif
