Problem with my power wire

I dont know how many times people come on here asking why this or that doesnt work when they havent even tried to diagnose with a $3 meter.

Here is what he knows:

1. The 4ga wire does not turn on his amp.

2. The 8ga wire turns on his amp.

3. The ground and remote doesnt change when he switches the power wire.

Hmm....what could be wrong?

On top of that, you have people saying he has a bad amp, bad ground, wire might not be true 4ga...wtf.

take the multimeter...if you can, put one lead (doesn't matter what color}on one end of the wire, take the other lead and put it on the other end of the wire...put meter in ohms and take a reading....................closer to 0 is better...no reading is bad

this test is test for continuity thru the 4 ga. wire....and also to see what you resistance is. my 2/0 weld cable 20 ft length reads like 0.09 ohms

To do that you have to either have enough slack to get the end to the front of the car or have super long leads on the DMM or remove the wire from the car

I would suggest just putting one lead on your power wire and one lead on the ground wire. Much easier. And shows how good your ground is too. Make sure to set it to DCV first.
