Problem with my JL Audio 10" ?

My friend gave me a JL Audio 10 inch sub the other day, don't know much more about it...but anyways, there is a black circle that comes out of the middle of it that says JL Audio on it, but there are about three of these small dents in it for some reason. I'm not sure if they will affect the sound or not, but I was wondering if you guys could give me some suggestions on how I could possibly remove the dents out of the middle. I would be very grateful. Hope to hear back from you guys soon.

just a dust cap...will not have any effect on sound. Just leave the dents in there..probably do more damage trying to take them out.
