Problem with amp

My amp cut out yesterday and won't play now. I'm kinda confused. The protect light comes on with just the power, remote, and rca's connected, no ground. Any Ideas whats up? its getting power (ground sparks when you touch it to the connector) But it stays in protect.

Amp is a Axton 5 channel, I'm only running on the sub channel, nothing else hooked to it...

What happened right before it stopped working? What did you see wrong with it when you first inspected it after it cut off?

I don't know when exactly it cut off. I had been pushing it pretty hard, considering the gain is only at halfway, and then put on some music that didn't really accent the sub very much, and it cut off sometime during that. I checked all the wires, moved the ground to a better spot, and looked at everything. Nothing seems out of place. I'm gonna pull the head unit tomorow and check behind there.

some amps will light up protect if they dont have a good ground so thats probably why your getting a protection light before u hook up your ground ... what kind of amp is it?

It does that with the ground hooked up or without. Amp is an Axton 5 channel. My buddy brought it over from Germany installed in his M3, wrecked the M3, and is getting rid of the amp and 2 subs.
