problem with amp wiring

hey guys i just got a couple of quick questions. first of all my sub is making a really weird noise, with my music all the way down it makes a low rumble and when im idling it gets even louder, but when im driving down the road you can hardly notice it. I have a cheap amp kit, and the people that hooked up my amp hooked up the rca cables on the same side as the exhaust and the power cable, would either one of these make a difference, and what can i do to fix it

I don't know how loud this 'noise' is but you made two big mistakes, first buying a cheap amp kit and second letting morons install it.

I would bring it back and ask they run the wires down both sides and see if you can get it done for free and see if it gets better and if not rip out what you have any do it yourself with a good kit!

check your ground for a good connection, get new rca's, run the wires on the other side.

the noise gets louder if i turn up the gain, and when the gain is almost all the way up it is really loud and sounds like thunder

What exactly does it matter that you have a "cheap" amp kit. As long as you have the right gauge for the right amount of power the power/ground doesn't care what brand is slapped on the jacket. The only thing that will matter is your RCA's somewhat.

Check to see how your grounds are-

You said it sounds like thunder, If this was an issue of running RCA's by a power wire or exhaust or whatever voodoo you may think it be, it would be a constant hum or move in pitch with the RPM's of the car.

Try a different Deck-

I have seen many people that have accidentally shorted out their RCA outputs at their deck by letting their live RCA's touch any metal(even the amp itself) in the trunk. It's happened.

W/o knowing exactly what the noise you're hearing is we're all just shooting in the dark. Get someone with experience in the car to hear it. If you had it professionally installed take it back, they should fix it.

i had the same prob. the rca pre outs shorted. got a new radio no more prob
