Problem setting gains

I have had no problem setting the gains on any of my amps before. Today I put in one of my T10001bds and went to set it and my dmm keeps reading like .4-.5 or even 0. I went back to watch tutorial videos and from that my methods were ok but still same readings. I dont know what it could be because it reads 14.4 when I try it on the amp terminals. Same deal with my 4 channel amp. Months ago I had set the gains properly with no problem and did it exactly as I had before and no luck on it either. Any ideas? Im going to keep trying for the next few.

iirc a sperry 350A I cant check it now cauve Ive gone to work.

It reads everything just fine battery 14.4-3 on the same setting to check amp voltage. Thats why Im confused. Am I supposed to turn it to a different setting? Id like to say its just the dmm cause thetd be easiest.

its because u need to change the current of the dmm,i cant rember but one is for reading volts on battery and other is to set gains ac/dc

if it works on your voltage its sset to DC, you need AC to measure amp output voltage

ya i did that at first wondering why i had the gain all the way up and no reading. lol. so ya change you setting on the DMM and you shuold be all good.

Well I tried to do it during my break and I did get results, just unexpected ones.

It reads 55.6v with the gain all the way down, 63.# at between 1/3 and 1/2 of the way.

The equation to find voltage is root(power*ohms) correct? That makes for a problem of trying to end up with 32 volts when it STARTS at 55. And just to clarify, with the gain all the way down there is very low volume from the sub even if the HU is half way up.

do you have bassboost on? or mabye loudness and bassboost on the HU on? thats weird.

check the bass boost on the amp. EQ flat on the deck. and are you using test tones! if so 0dB, -3dB, -6dB etc....?

Im using a 60hz 0dB tone. Ill check oll of that but I know I dont have bassboost. Thanks guys I think the problem will be solved with the given info.
