problem...plz help

i was ridin around today n my music was goin when all of the sudden my bass went out...so then i turned my stero off and when i got home i turned the h/u back on n went back to look at my subs n amp......they're working now but they sound like staticy or something?.....are they blown?.......my amp was kinda smelly too but there was no smoke or anything....anyone know what might've happened?

i just checked all connections to the amp n under the hood.......they all seem secure n my fuse isnt blown...any other ideas??....,maybe bad RCA's?......n the amp isnt hot.....its a bit warm but i figured that was normal for any electronic to get warm when being used

well sblazer helped me out quite a bit.....all my coils are reading the right ohms and nothing looks or smells burnt....so the subs arent blown......but the sound is still there.....it sounds like static or like something is tapping the sub as it hits.....any suggestions on how to find out what is doing this would be greatly aprreciated.....it sounds like shit

and my amp is still a bit stinky but working

Try switching the amp. Usually when something smells funny its not good.

If when you switch the amp and the subs still make the sound something is wrong with the subs. I once had an 8 that was played to hard and the spider tore from the cone, it would sound like crap at high volumes but good at low. I glued it back but it still sounded like crap. (Gave it 120 volts AC for a good show)

well i got it checked out n its the amp....i just dont know what could've caused it.....maybe i just got a bad amp?
