Well I am new here (as you can see). I have a 350z. I have two JL amps: 300/4, 500/1. The 300/4 is pushing polk sr6500's and some infinity coaxils in the back...the 500/1 is pushing a jlw7.......now that that's out of the way...

I am totally unsatisfied with the sound I'm getting. Firstly, my rear coaxils are drowning out the polks, also my speakers are distorting even when the volume is low (and both sets of speakers are new)....I have no clue as to what is causing this, but I'm pretty sure it's the amp....any help would be appreciated...thanks guys.

Your coax speakers are probably more efficient than the comps. Fade your head unit controls to the front or turn down the gains on the rear channnels of the amp.

I am really concerned that there is something wrong with the amp. I have little to no midbass coming out of my speakers when I turned the sub down. Also the speakers are distorting like crazy.....

That amp should not be distorting at low volume. You probably are not getting any bass because your crossover is set too high. Also, don’t expect 75x4 amp sound considerably louder than 20x4 head unit. It is going to be only 4-5 db louder at most! 3 db is the smallest increment in volume that you can hear.

Very often, when something goes wrong with JL amps, you can see "Low Ohm" light starts blinking very lightly in the dark while music is playing.

It sounds like your crossovers are set wrong too, if you don't know what your doing just go to a shop and ask them to set the gains and crossovers for you, around here the shops usually do it for free.

x2... your speakers shouldn't be distorting at low volume. Check crossover and gain settings... make sure your filters are set for mids and highs, not lows

the crossover and gain settings are on the amp? i found the one on my headunit (kenwood ddx-8017) but changing the crossover there didn't make a big difference.
