Prestige alarm? good? bad? deseperatly need help

Very good alarm, must be installed by a professional dealer to recieve the full warranty. Most shops will charge you less if you buy and have them install it.

It's an Audiovox product...their stuff is hit or miss. The Code Alarms (made by Audiovox) were real pieces of shit.

Look into something from DEI...can't go wrong with them IMO.

We sell those for $350-$400 installed, and they can be had for cheaper. Install will run you anywhere from $1-200 in most cases, so keep that in mind.

Also, you may want to look into proximity sensors, glass sensors, back up batteries, air horns, etc. if you have a lot of money invested in your car...I suggest going out to shops and talking to them about alarm systems and what your options are.

ooo wow $350 - 400.. thats alot mroe than i wanted to pay... i dont need anything to elaborate.. i was looking into gettin the glass sensors but im not real sure what any of the other stuff u mentioned is? and how important are those things?

If you want a shop to install an alarm, but you don't buy the alarm from them, they will typically charge you more than they would if you bought it from them. I'd honestly suggest going out to as many shops as you can and gettting some models and a price. Ask them about everything I mentioned, if they can't give you detailed answers, then you don't want them doing your alarm.

We sell basic systems for as low as $150 installed in most vehicles...but if you want a 2 way system like the one you were looking at, be prepared to spend at least $250-300 with install...in most cases, a little more.

Read up on this link...it has some good tips and goes into detail about security systems...

Also, you may want to do some reading in that forum...the Security section has some good information there....

i have that same alarm...i bought it last year off ebay and had it installed for 100 bux works great.. never have ne problems with it
thanx for posting... i was hoping sum1 had acutally used this alarm that would reply...

but i really hate to pay $100 to have the dang thing installed... im broke from my system and im workin on my components right now ... this alarm is jsut a last minute thing...

i have the 996a. if you dont care about your car and your too cheap to spend good money on your alarm. then just get a basic one and have some shitty installer install it for cheap and watch your shit get stolen later on.....

so in the non sarcastic reply. hold off on other things for you car and get the alarm first. better to be safe then sorry. And YOU GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR

$100 for the install labor is a hell of lot less than the damage to your car and replacing your sh!t.

I have a Prestige alarm and they are not a peice of shit,I have not had a problem with it and I installed it myself.it`s been 2 years and it still works..there`s no need to bash Audiovox Alarms they may not make good audio equipment but their alarms are right up there with DEIs and that`s a fact btw I have install several alarms so I`m not a rookie.
