Powerbass L-104D vs Alpine Type R 10" sub

I was originally hooked on buying the 10" powerbass L-104D sub for my Dodge Ram, but now I see that I can get Alpine Type R 10" DVC SWR-1043D sub for just $25 more. So which one? Why?

Or, is there something else in the 100 to 125 dollar range I have completely missed?

Will run it with an Alpine MRX-M50 (500 watts @ 2ohm), Factory receiver for now, custiom fiberglass enclosure under rear seat of Dodge Ram (approx .65 cu ft)

It's rated for 300 rms but his takes 600 like a walk in the park.

I like the Powerbass L's. They do good work and have a good sound to them. They won't take 2x rated, but if you have a solid 700 -800 watts to work with for the pair, they do not disappoint.

I had 2 15" L's and they were alright. Once I sold those I put my 2007 12" type r's back in and liked them better. Both setups were sealed and on 1300rms. Both sets would've prob gotten louder ported but sealed is the way I roll.

With that said, I'd prob go with the R but I doubt you'd be disappointed either way.

i go Rockford Fosgate all day.. rated at 400watts RMS too:

Rockford Fosgate P3D410 (09p3d410) 10" Dual 4 ohm Punch Stage 3

but it depends what you're looking for. Rockford Fosgate was never really one for SQ, more SPL... but i love my two 12's

The new Alpine type r's are junk. Cant take rated power for long periods of time.

I ordered a Powerbass L-104D and the amp is a Alpine MRX-M50 with a remote gain knob. I am in the process of finishing up a custom fiberglass box that fits under the passenger side rear seat in my new Dodge Ram quad cab. Volume of the box is approx .65 sq ft.

I will let everyone know how it turns out next weekend. Speaker and amp arrive Tuesday!
