Featured Alpine 7156 help

I bought an old Alpine 7156 headunit from ebay, did a bench test on it and it played a cassette, volume, fast forward, and rewind was all working like it should but my display is very dim, if I shade my hand over it I can barely see the clock which looked like it was not set correctly but working. Also while getting it to play I realized that I needed a 9 pin plug that connects to the harness on the unit which it seems I cannot find, talked to a couple local guys at electronics stores and they said I could splice the wires to get it to work, but I'd like some more opinions before I start hacking it up. Thanks.

Deff,. You will be Hard Pressed/ even lucky to find the wiring plug adapter for that old unit. Id cut it off and move forward on it.
The cutting it off part is what I'm confused about now. The speakers in my car have two wires coming off of them but I would only have one wire on the stereo??

If you got it to play, how is it that you still need a 9-pin connector? From the cassette tape player to the radio. Yeah that looks like it will have to be specially Made. From any head unit? Single din or double din. Obviously if it’s a single din, splicing it on the factory side harness. Connecting only the head unit connectors. Try to salvage an old 9-pin connector. Female or male. Which ever one it is. That should work with the newer radios single din.

Then just go color to color once you’ve found the correct iso connectors. From the radios leading to the cassettes. If you need more power to the cassette, then the yellow wire from the battery is used on the cassette terminals to the iso connector.
