Currently I have a RF 400x4 running my mid/highs (Rear: 3-way Kenwood and Front: Kenwood DB+ Excelon 2 ways) and a 250x2 running my sub (12" Kicker VR). Here is my problem. I need to move my power wire and was thinking of replacing it cause it looks like the coating is wearing off (its not a name brand). What should I replace it with? Monster cable, Rockford Fosgate cable? My friend even suggested going to Home Depot and buying the same gauge wire, spending less $$$ and it being a little more sturdy (yet a little less flexible)? But, will it work and is it worth it since its not a "car" power wire? Please any help is greatly appreciated.

Expensive stuff is just cheap wire with a name brand stamped on it. Flexibility is probably the most important issue. Just find some 8 ga with a reasonable strand count (500 or so) and you'll be good. You can get a nice kit off ebay for $20 or so.

The hardware stuff is fine, just harder to work with.

I think you will be just fine to be honest. Id run it and check it after hammering on it quite a bit and check the temp on the wire by hand to see...

If you have multiple amps you do not need to run a power wire from each amp to battery.. You can have a single run of wire with a distribution...
