Video game artist, I think I saw a games concept artist on this thread also. I primarily do character/facial/mechanical/creature rigging, modeling, lighting and various other technical artist jobs. Been making games for 16+ years from Playstation1 to Playstation4 and PC, now VR gaming. Been credited on 17 shipped (mostly AAA) titles and worked on quite a few more that were cancelled or I took a new job before the release. It's a ton of fun, but more work than you can imagine, it's not just sitting around playing games all day. Can't tell you how many times I've heard that. Jobs are scattered through the country/world, so moving around is pretty normal, especially with the volatility in the industry. I've worked in 12 states and in two foreign countries (Iceland & Japan for short stints) in the last 18 years. Typically pay and benefits are pretty good for senior people, but sleep and family time can become limited depending on the company management style and culture. Crunch time is not your friend.

I did a little work for the original xbox during the beta coding. It was all made in a modified .net mix with c sharp..

Playstation has a better coding using c, but the graphics engine is impossible to work with making multi system a pain.

Also beta testers that find flaws and game glitches play lots of games and do lots of reports. 50/50 game playing [emoji14]

You guys sound like nerds //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/nerd.gif.c6fa51ddf7ff75f1c0371fbc648f70ae.gif

I work at a Coal Powerplant - where overtime is galore! I currently make $24.38 an hour (total benefites package is $36 an hour so they say..)

I get $2.50 an hour into a vacation fund (currently at $4,200) - I started March 1st and have made $42, 000 this year in 6 months.

I am only 21; however I paid off my last four years worth of partying in Seattle, I have paid off ALL my debt (car lean included) at a total value of $12,000. By new year I'll have an excess amount of $10,000 saved. I am thankful for my career! However new year I am beginning a new path of work that produces %40 higher income!

I finally spent money on myself after I put the final $3,500 cash down on my car. :) went home and spent $1200 on my sub stage build :)

My speakers will be here Wednesday!

Hazah!
