I know this has been done... But just out of boredom.

What line of work are you in? Is this a temp job or your permanent career choice? Love or hate it? What's the pay and what's the potential pay?

I'll start.

Occupation: Water treatment plant operator

I guess I consider it a career at this point. Pay is decent for this area. ~$13.50-$19/hr. About the same as the top paying factory work in this small town but much less work.

I work for the city government which is OK, but it takes SIXTEEN freaking years to top out your pay which is ridiculous. Other than that, getting certified by the state is a pretty good pay raise. ~$1.50/hr for 1 test and ~1.00 for the second. These test are ridiculously hard to pass now from everything I've been hearing.

In a larger city starting pay is around the same as the top out pay here...people have left here, moved 70-80 miles and started out at 55k/yr+...but I'm pretty much rooted where Im at sadly.

Anyway, post your occupation and anything you'd like to share about it. Maybe I'll get some ideas for a new, better paying gig. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

Network Engineer/Network Administrator for a managed service provider. Been doing it for 2 years. Got a job 3 months before I finished college. My main client is a $200M international company.

Corporate Security for the second largest provider of electricity in the country. 08 April made 9yrs. I work nights, 7 on and 7 off. With shift differential about 18.50 an hour. Best job I have ever had, other than the USARMY. Most of us are prior service military, or retired police officers.

Hvac tech for a little over a year, I work for a large company and have been enjoying it so far, all I do is repairs and call in sales leads, we get 5% on the sales, with it being a large company when we get slow we have the option to work in another state for a couple weeks, before that I did apartment maintenance for about 12 years, that just got boring and stale fixing the same problems.

Ah, my child and audio are my main interest. Sounds like you've got it pretty good man!
no complaints here. i wouldn't change my life with anyone in the world. no stress, my kid is actually pretty well behaved, he'll be starting school soon (he's only 2), both of my cars are paid off, house is paid off, my wife's car will be paid off soon (cars are '00 Focus ZX3, '08 Rogue, '14 Pathfinder), work environment is pretty laid back with the occasional custom job just for me.

I'm a data researcher and 99% of our clients are title companies! I live in NJ but commute to NYC every morning and it's a hassle! Me and the wife are looking to move closer to NYC to shorten up the commute since she also works in the city!

Wow, you really have it going! I wish my life was an eighth as put together as yours seems to be. Lol

I work as a concept artist for computer games and film. Live in Southern California. Salary > 100k, but not going to get into specifics. Graduated college in 97, been doing this ever since: 17 shipped games, plus tons of others that were canceled in pre-production.

My job consists of creating designs for vehicles, weapons, environments, characters, creatures and digitally sketching and painting them all day in Photoshop. It's one of those jobs that sounds like bullshit to most people not in the industry, but its a real thing //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

Wife was also in the film industry for 15 years, our combined salary was slightly under $250k for a while. The film industry has been gutted in the US in the past few years, so she has changed careers and is now about to apply to graduate school for a degree in occupational therapy which, around here, starts at about 75-85k and should prove to be a rewarding career. Making 75 per hour is possible eventually if she wants to home visit rehab. She's wrapping up prerequisites now, but already loves it more than working on films. Will be actually helping real people with real problems.
