with a pair of autotek mm4000.1ds 1ohm bridged each, on a pair of kinetik 2400s dipping to around 13v pushing a single MT 18" I don't think I hit 5kw... rated power and real world power are totally different things my friend //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif
I love being talked about in the third person //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crap.gif.7f4dd41e3e9b23fbd170a1ee6f65cecc.gifSoooo, what was he running that he was able to hold a 5K output, "Real World" on music as a daily to cause that kind of damage, without clipping? Polo..

The sub's coil probably had something wrong with it to start with to cause a failure of the lead wire on the coil (since you were paying attention, the burn mark went down the former wall). But I think you were too worried about proving your theory to HawaiianBassHed to consider other possibilities //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/rolleyes.gif.c1fef805e9d1464d377451cd5bc18bfb.gif
anyways, back on track.... the original poster asked for failed cones, and I can comply.

Nobody was trying to prove anything and yes I did see the former. I was simply asking a question (note the question mark in the posts). Damage like usually doesn't happen to daily setups, excuse me for being curious....
I apologize then, I didnt derrive that from the suggestion of use of the question mark //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crap.gif.7f4dd41e3e9b23fbd170a1ee6f65cecc.gif
let me restate what I said then. I put alot of power into that sub daily for months, and on top of that used it for 10 or so SPL competitions. So I usually have way more abuse/use on my subs in addition to high power daily use as well. It adds up over time, no matter what kind of sub you use.
Yessir, many a times... simply fold under stress...Has any one ever seen a cone go before the coil
TC Sounds 4HP 18", might be the Neo. With the CMP package top assembly...What is that? It looks like a Type-R but I'm only new to subs.
