The sub's coil probably had something wrong with it to start with to cause a failure of the lead wire on the coil (since you were paying attention, the burn mark went down the former wall). But I think you were too worried about proving your theory to HawaiianBassHed to consider other possibilities //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/rolleyes.gif.c1fef805e9d1464d377451cd5bc18bfb.gif

Nobody was trying to prove anything and yes I did see the former. I was simply asking a question (note the question mark in the posts). Damage like usually doesn't happen to daily setups, excuse me for being curious....

let me restate what I said then. I put alot of power into that sub daily for months, and on top of that used it for 10 or so SPL competitions. So I usually have way more abuse/use on my subs in addition to high power daily use as well. It adds up over time, no matter what kind of sub you use.

Thanks for clearing that up I was curious as a daily most people stop when they smell smoke BUT under competition stresses, sometimes smoke VS highest score will trump the loss of the sub, lmfao! So did the cmp package really add as many dbs as tc claimed. I not surebut didn't thet claim like a full db gain?I wanted one of those so bad.

I have a Eclipse tc9 based 12 that the coil is still good but it came apart where the coil meets the cone and just dented the crap out of it in a matter of a second or two. As soon as I can find my SD card I'll upload some pics.
