does it usaually do damage to other parts of the woofer when a tinsel breaks

if u push it hard enough to break the tinsel do u usually do more damage

But no, broken tinsel leads don't do anything to any other part of the sub. In most instances the tinsel lead can be repaired.

when u replace the tinsel its best to remove the dustcap and start from there right?
