ooooo, we talking about coverages.

I probably have the best health insurance on here in regards to payment, quality, and services available. free dental visits and cheap dental surgeries, free optical (not needed), cheap doctor visits, cheap monthly payments (around 50 a month), cheap prescriptions, and a reimbursement program for health-related items.

and I still hate the current healthcare system for the society as a whole. I was fortunate in where I work, but most everyone isn't. Heck the benefits are why some people even work where I'm at (haven't even gotten into tuition assistance). But I'm sure about 1-5% of people in the US have my kind of benefits and that's unfortunate.

1. Freedom to choose what's in your plan

With socialized medicine you do not need to be able to choose your plan. The point behind it is so that everyone in America can have free universial health care.

2. Freedom to be rewarded for healthy living, or pay your real costs

You will not have to pay for any of your visits, operations, or medication. There is over 47 million people in this country that does not have health insurance becasue they can not afford it. So who are we to tell tham that they can not get mediacal help?

3. Freedom to choose high-deductible coverage

Still missing the point of socialized medicine, there will no longer be a need to have to pay for heatlh insurance and high premiums. You will no longer have to get aprovial through your insurance company to go through on an operation. Why do you think the American Heatlh care system is not even ranked in the top 30 in the world?

4. Freedom to keep your existing plan

There is no need for a plan. If you need medical attention you will recieve it. You will not have to pay a co-pay be stuck with part of the bill that your insurance company refuses to pay

5. Freedom to choose your doctors

Socialized medicine does not dictate where you can and can not go for medical attention. You buy into all the liberal media lies.

However that kind of care is expensive and ineffecient. I think the welfare story has a lot to do with it. Sure, we hand out food stamps. But the food stamps can buy cookies and cakes, not fresh fruit and veggies.

Until we as a country make a choice to hold people accountable for their health choices, I don't think we would make any headway.

I'd support an opt-in socialized medicine if they had restrictions. People can't smoke, are taught healthy food choices, pushed to exercise, etc. This type of insurance, imo, allows people to be less healthy because the government is going to take care of them. I am inclined to think that if people had to pay all of their medical costs, they'd attempt to get those yearly physicals (like you mentioned) to ensure they are on a proper path to good health. By not holding people accountable, costs are sure to rise.

For example, since I have good auto insurance, I am not really all that concerned if I crash into someone. If I had no insurance and risked losing my house, you better believe I'd be a lot more careful.

If I can, I will continue to keep my own insurance, which seems to be a better deal than the universal option. I don't want the same coverage as everyone else. My time is valuable, thus, if I can pay a couple grand more a year to be first in line, why not?

How is everyone going to get free medical care? Is the military going to put a gun to the head of every doctor, forcing them to work for free?

I am betting that many of the 47MM could afford it. They cannot afford it and maintain their current lifestyle. By the way they spend, they have set their priorities. The only execption is those with pre-existing conditions who cannot find work readily because they are, for lack of a better word, damaged goods. Not crippled enough to be disabled, not fit enough to work. Those are the ONLY people I feel should be covered by such a program.

I eat a pound of bacon for breakfast, smoke 3 packs a day and drink beer all day. I have no insurance, but never get refused at the emergency room, so I don't see any problems with health care.

that goes along with what I said about socialized physicals and proactive/preventive care. they need to know how to live healthy or catch possibly deadly/costly diseases early

You sir. Are an idiot.

1. Where does the government get its money?

We would pay for everyones medical attention anyway.

2. Universal health care is minimal coverage.

You only get what they want to give you. That means if you need kidney medicine because you have kidney cancer, you will not recieve it because they dont cover that.

3. We do not have enough room for everyone to get medical attention.

Everything how it is works out perfect. People who do not earn enough money to get insurance dont get it. Survival of the fittest.

Health depends on how you take care of your body. So why should we be obligated to pay for people medical care that dont take care of their body?

I don't think OP is correct. I think some of those things come into play when you try to switch jobs or something. However, as long as I can get reimbursed for sunglasses, I am good.
Socialized medicine is the best thing that can happen to corpate America and small business owers. They will no longer have to pay fpr high insurance premiums meaning more money can be saved and more money can go into the workers pockets. Why do you think every job in America when someone is hurt on the job makes that person take a drug test? They do it to find a way to get out of paying high medical costs. With socialized medicine the middle man is cut out and medical price capa per person goes down alot. Right not the medical price capa per person is over $7k where other contries that have socialized medicine are between $500-$1k per person.

I am sure they don't know the value of regular blood work and physicals.

I am sure the average person knows a carrot is better for you than a cigarette...convincing them to ditch the cigarrette for the carrot is another matter.

But they will have to pay for it in taxes. It isn't as free as you think.

And I don't think businesses will quit drug testing after accidents. I think it has more to do with not being sued by the employee than medical costs.

All the doctors will leave our country/no one will want to be a doctor. They wont get paid enough for wasting 8-9 years of their life to become a doctor. People with your uneducated thoughts are what leads this country to destroy itself. Capitalism creates new ideas and jobs. Without it there is no need to improve. Because either way you get what you want, its handed to you.

I dont know you, but i like you. You have the same mindset politically.

We would have to pay taxes on it but in the long run it comes out to be cheaper than having to pay insurance premiums, co-pays, medication, and other fees that the insurance compaines will not pay.

If this was the case then why do contries that have socialized medicine have better health care than the United States?

That is the most selfish shit I have ever heard

5 out of 51 hospitals in th UK didnt pass health codes and were not sanitary.

Its not selfish, I AM NOT GOING TO PAY FOR A BUM OR SOMEONE NOT MOTIVATED ENOUGH TO GO TO SCHOOL AND PAY FOR THEIR OWN SHIT.

It is not a right to have healthcare, it is a privelage.
