Try a 1990 c1500 262 with about 200k on the dot (odometer stopped working when ****** went out) and still running strong only thing to go out was my ****** last december. Motor passes smog with flying colors and burns no oil, same amount every 3k when i change it, and no smoke on start up ir anything. Swapping a 350 eventually though after this audio overhaul im sure my little 6 will give me problems. These motors, 4.3,5.0, and 5.7 were meant to last, not to be fast
My stepdads got a 98 silverado with the 5.0..

That engine can tow! And has 285,000 miles on it.

Like you said no smoke, no oil burning, nothing..

The 5.7's are torque monsters.

Adding to a couple things 1 older cars are known for lasting longer than these plastic pieces of **** now adays. My 81 BMW, 95 F150 and now my '88 ranger all have well over 100k my BMW had 202,034 exactly my F150 had about 180k still running strong (and pulling Chevy's out of creeks and mud holes) and my now ranger has 216k on it only issue it has is the transmission which was a common issue with the automatic first gens cause Ford (trying to cut cost) took the transmissions (which was already a ****** transmission) out of the 4cyl mustangs and other small cars like that and threw it into these trucks which with the extra weight and then drag put a lot of strain on these transmissions
