Possible Fi BL Build Questions

Umm, I don't pay for food
Ok well, I am looking at getting a 15" BL and I need a box in my trunk that will fit. I will definatly be using Birch as MDF is just too heavy and hard to work with.

The major problem I am working with is my trunk. It is hard to explain but only for 1ft (from the seats back) the trunk is 14" high. That is from the rear seats, about 1ft into the trunk, then after that, it is like 20-22" high. So my box has to be 14" high. This mean's, I could not fit a 15" facing back. So I will need to do a sub facing up, port back design.

I am wondering if will do a quick sketchup of a box for a 15" BL, tuned to 32hz and about 4.25cuft with around 70" of port.

Max Dims are 31" wide, 14" high and about 52" deep.

I will grab some pics with Dim's on them for a better understanding.

So does it have anything to do structuraly with the car? I do not want to start cutting away structural stuff. I mean, if it doesn't have a purpose, why would Dodge put it there in the first place? (not trying to be a ***, just a Q)

Thanks.

Also, I kind of like the idea of having the sub face up, port back. Also, that thing that piece of metal that hangs down is only like 11" deep, so the baffle of the box (top) would have to have 11" of open space near the back, the space for the sub. Seems easier than before.

thats how my box is designed. I have a 15 XXX in my accord. But is woofer cone flexes my rear deck so much from the air, i dont really like it. im building a new box tomarrow. Also i see that your going to use birch? So am i, isnt it stronger than MDF?

From what I have heard, yes it is stronger, 1/2 the weight and leaves you with a lot easier of a cleanup.

I would do a port back, sub back box, but I don't feel like cutting up my car.

Also, how far is the sub from the roof of your back deck/trunk?

My trunk is only 14" high for about a foot from back of the seats towards the taillights, then the height is like 22", so I would have a good 6" of space above the sub to the rear deck/trunk lid. I've damplifier'd the shit out of my back deck/trunk lid.
