could someone explain what all these are i know what they are but im still not sure which is best, i know it depends on what you are using but please explain. like ported are the ones with holes on the sides like tubes that go to the back of the sub, and a sealedhave no holes but do they have glass over the front of each sub? if not how good would that sound? not good i would think. and some subs only recomend sealed and no ported. ????????????? thanks alot

sealed:

sealed box (no holes) with the subs mounted on a single panel of the box. there is no glass for this design. very good SQ, but requires more power.

ported:

simular to sealed, but a port (hole) in incorperated into the design to allow a greater mass of air movement. less power is required then sealed, but you should use a subsonic filter to protect your subs from low freq's. also the box i larger then seald due to the fact the you want to tune the box the larger the port has to be. (the lower you go the larger or deeper the port)

bandpass:

is a comb. of sealed and ported. (this is the one with plastic or glass in front of the sub(s)) the draw back to this design is that they offer a very narrow freq. band. it is usally very boomy. they can be very loud, but you dont hear all the bass beats at the same volume because there is a very sharp roll of outside of the freq. range you have the box tuned to.

free air:

aka infinite baffle. that means you dont really have a box, but instead you turn the cabin of the car and or tunk into a box. usally people that use this method mount the sub(s) in the rear deck or form fit a board behind the rear seats and seal it so that the sound waves from the front stay away from the rear firing waves.

sealed and ported are the most commonly used. bandpass is not used too aften due to the difficultly in makig the box correctly and the narrow freq. response. free air is prett rare and takes quite a bit of effort to seal every thing and have it look nice. hope all of this helps!
