port position in a single cab pickup

wow thats a sexy boxzierbox were are you at in tx i would live to do something like that

most i could get was 2.9 cu ft

i'm 5' 10" but very rarely does someone sit in the passenger seat so i leave it flipped up most of the time.

i dont see any way i can do sub up in my truck

bro, if you can get 2.9 cubes net then you can fit a lot of subs in there.....my real issue is depth....

i got a 12" ported in mine now and its pretty **** loud...very shallow box...i had to use a sub with 5.25 mounting depth...but then it becomes challenging to find a sub that you can throw respectable power on that is so shallow......well besides a shallow mount woofer, which in my experience ****....

yea i can get something up to 8". im thinking of trying a hdc12 but they were all sold out so...

my deal is know i thought this sx would be louder so i was wondering if it might be the acoustics of the truck or maybe the lack of port area.

dont get me wrong i think is sounds great but i wanted a lil more.

with that depth, an Fi bl in a slot port with the slot coming out on the edge of the passenger side is impressive to say the least....something like 1k watts...how loud are you looking to go???....

im dont know its a daily driver but i want to be able to turn it up and it not be that enjoyable

ive got 1500watts so... ive looked at the bl but i didnt think it would be all that different from the sx i have know.

i found the build log on that orange box in the thread......zier is the man!...that was a **** sweet install on the 03 chevy.

i'd just like to know some more info on the box..deph at top and bottom and port specs and such...

it looked sealed to me.
nah, the build log said ported, and there was a small pic of a port as well....but it looked like it fired out the right rear corner:wow:

that made me even more curios as to the specs....i like the box tho...i dont have those kinda mad building skills, but he aint all taht far down the road from me, so i could always drive up and see what he could do on something similar....

being 5'10" you have your seat around where mine sits. Anyway you should be able to comfortably fit a box of these dimensions: 55" W x 14" H x 9" Top D x 10 Bot D (or 11"). Thats with some modifications to the back wall but nothing structure hurting. A 12 is fine but you might wanna look into some good tens or like four 8s

says ported install at the top so i assume the port was this???

yeah i know...htats why i'm curious as hell......i didnt see any other kind of openings on the box, so i figured that had to be the one.....interesting design, and normally i would look at something like that and think WTF was this kid thinking......

but this dude is good.......obviously didnt just throw the port there without reason...i've never ported anything like that before, only out the top and front face.....

and btw, what kind of mods did you do to the back of your truck???...

when you said "Thats with some modifications to the back wall but nothing structure hurting"

well first off I trimmed some of the plastic molding below the structure bar so that the box would fit flush under the bar and with the plastic molding. I've noticed two little brackets on the back wall at the bottom that I think the molding I cut off had attached to and Im about to cut them off because they are useless to me. I had no trouble deciding if I wanted to cut the molding because I can get new pieces from a junk yard if I want to sell the truck.

hmm...nothing to major then.....my current "project" is an 88 gmc reg cab.....behind the seats is pretty diff i guess....these trucks have a metal cross "member" about 18inches off the floor....and mine having 60/40 spit bench seat makes it even more difficult....

i know i could swap out seats and stuff for buckets, but i dont wanna......i like the challenge of seeing what i can get crammed behind the seat and NOT losing much leg room.....people see the bench and how far it is back.....then they HEAR it and eyes open and WTF's are heard....

not saying its the LOUDEST thing in the world, but high 130's from a reg cab with the seat **** near the back of the track is a challenge in and of itslef......the boxes have only been 7 inches deep at the MOST!

obviously you guys got a hella lot more room than me.....!!!!...sorry dogs...

i need to get back to my chevelle with the 12cu ft trunk...lol
