Poor AM/FM sound - Any Feedback?

Hi! Listed below is what i am running. I am having problems with my FM/AM sound. Playing discs the system sounds awesome, clear and loud but when playing FM/AM stations it sounds like complete crap even at very low volume. It is hard to tell if it is bad reception or not. I guess my question would be: Should i try a new antenna? or is it possible it is clipping even though the cd's sound great? Any help would be appreciated.

I have the same problem,my antenna is built into the rear glass.Apparently the equipment is causing some type of interference,so I went ahead and bought a aftermarket (REAL)antenna from crutchfield. We'll see how it works out when I get it,my other car(Altima) had similar equipment installed in it,the car had a power antenna and I had no reception problem at all.If the new antenna helps then I'll drill out the hole(rear corner panel) and install it permanently.

My girls 65 Mustang has two leads of ~ 16 gauge wire that go up into the roof, works fine as an antenna. From what I've seen, all you need is some plain wire, those fancy antennas don't offer much more. Oh, and yes, fm and am sucks... Hell, xm and sirus **** too. I'll stick with music that I want to listen to, not music companies want me to listen to //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

i had a RFX9300 and i didnt have any problems (1994 chevy cavalier) with the radio. in fact, thats about the only thing that worked on the **** thing. you might wanna see if your antenna adaptor is falling out or loose. mine did that quite a few times, once. it fell out completly - and it was lying in the driver side floor. make sure its VERY snug.

but the HU did crap out- it stopped playing MP3's, then the display broke, and after a while using a CD, it gets very distorted, all this started happening maybe 2~3 months after i had it.

might just be a crappy head unit. i know my rockford HU was a pile of crap- im very unhappy that i didnt get it retail- or even better, not buy it at all.

If the antenna doesnt work then I'll send it back and try the wire thingy, cheap solution.I also tried a booster that didnt work,we''ll see happens

As stupid as this sounds, do you have a power antenna? and did you remember to reconnect the power to it? When I put in my last hu in my car I forgot to hook it back up, so now i have crappy am/fm reception. it works out for the better for me though, i hate radio anyways, and my car looks better w/o an antenna.
