Well, I've decided its time to upgrade my equipment //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif I was running a few options and trying to decide which set up to go with.

(** all prices in Canadian funds***)

option 1:

Phoenix Gold OCTANE-R6.5 6.5" Component $86.82

Phoenix Gold OCTANE-R8.0:4 125W x 4 Channel Amplifier $247.13

Phoenix Gold OCTANE-R5.0:1 500W x 1 Amplifier $260.49

(2)Phoenix Gold OCTANE-R 10D 400W Subwoofer $133.56

Subtotal: $728.00

All octane series equipment..any advantages?

option 2:

Kicker 02K6.2 6 1/2" Component System $133.58

Kicker 04KX700.5 5 Channel Amplifier $447.52

Alpine SWR-1241D 12" Type-R Series Subwoofer (4ohm + 4ohm) $145.61

Subtotal: $726.71

Less power...will the 400 max class D sub section of the amp be sufficient to drive the type R?. Big fan of kicker components by the way //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

option 3:

Alpine SPR-176A 6 1/2" R-Series Component Two-Way Speaker $180.33

PowerAcoustik OV2-1600 Gothic Series 2-Channel $207.05

PowerAcoustik OV4-800 Gothic Series 4-Channel Amplifier $133.58

(2)Alpine SWR-1041D 10" Type-R Series Subwoofer (4ohm + 4ohm) $261.82

Subtotal: $782.78

Would probably swap the type R components with kickers, if there's no advantage to same brand equipment ( which i'm fairly sure there isnt)

Sufficent power for the type R subs? How are power acoustik amps, reliable? etc

By the way, all prices are from etronics online store. Having never purchased stereo equipment online before, is there any advice on what to be aware of , etc?

Any advice or input is appreciated...Thx in advance

Mainly after sq, and budget is $700-900ish..

I have nothing to really add because I don't know much.. but, i recently bought the Phoenix Gold OCTANE-R5.0:1 500W x 1 Amplifier off of ebay for $201shipped. Having it installed tomorrow actually..

Unless your stuck on brand matching try this.

CDT CL-61a $150 thezeb.com

Profile AP600 $75 ikesound.com (for comps)

hifonics bx 1500d $245 ikesound.com

RE SE 12 in a custom ported box built by you $160

Total- $630 and will wang hard

No advantage to same brand equipment, unless you are using something like an Alpine HU w/ Alpine amps since you can control the amps from the HU. Other than that, no, no advantages.

And is that $700-$900 budget Canadian or US dollars?? If it's Canadian....what's the conversion to US (as I'm too lazy to actually try to find it)??
