Poly fill....what does it do?

I have a sealed box and I was wondering what poly fill does and how much I would need (box is about one cubic foot).

it tricks the sub into thinking its in a bigger encloser.

It does do that but only so much roughly %10 or less..Mostly it reduces standing waves which alter the resonant frequency of the sub..Either way it is a good idea to use it.

the polyfill makes the subs "think" it has a bigger enclosure resulting into a lower bass response....
