I concider myself to be an all around car nut, and just wanted to post my favorite motors from the USA, Japan and Europe; all motors being in stock form--yes, I know the math money = power, and some pretty amazing things can be done to a lot of motors with enough money. But my favorites are in stock form; my favorite modifiable motors is a different list. Motors listed are currently made, unless otherwise noted.

But lets also hear from all of you out there what your favorite motor(s) is and why.

Favorite domestic 4 cyl.: Normally asperated: GM ecotec 2.2

Forced induction: Dodge 2.3 SRT-4 turbo (Only choice)

Favorite domestic 6 cyl.: Normally asperated: Ford Duratec 2.5 or 3.0

Forced induction: GM Supercharged 3.8

Favorite domestic 8 cyl.: Normally asperated: GM LS1 or LS6 5.7

Forced induction: Ford GT supercharged 32 valve 5.4

(Hopefully it will find its way into the new

F150 Lightning.)

Favorite Japanies 4 cyl.: Normally asperated: (Tie) Honda K20C (RSX-S) or the new

2.2 for the S2000 (2005 model)

Forced induction: Subaru STI 2.5 turbo flat-4 (Hands down)

Favorite Japanies 6 cyl.: Normally asperated: Nissan VQ35 3.5 (Low end)

3.0 NSX motor (High end)

Forced induction: (Nothing worthwhile made new)

Old: Toyota 2JZ-GTE 3.0 twin turbo

Favorite Japanies 8 cyl.: Normally asperated: Not much to choose from, but I give

kudos to Nissan for there new 5.8

Favorite European 4 cyl.: Normally asperated: Mercedes 2.3

Forced induction: VW/Audi 1.8 turbo

Favorite European 6 cyl.: Normally asperated: Any BMW 6 cyl.; especially the M3

3.2 (High end) or VW 24valve VR6

(Low end)

Forced induction: (Tie) Mercedes supercharged 3.2

or Audi 2.7 twin turbo

Favorite European 8 cyl.: Normally asperated: BMW M5 5.0 32-valve H.O.

Forced induction: Audi 4.0 twin turbo

Favorite old-school motors: Ford 427 cobrajet; Pontiac 455; Mopar Hemi's; Nissan

240Z straight-six; Ford and GM small blocks.

That's it for now; lets see yours.

Anything that makes more power with a supercharger versus a hot ass, expensive turbo.

J/K.

My favs would be the new ZZ572 race engine, 426 Hemis, pretty much any big block chevy, 428 cobra jet, and the motor i want the most(for my truck) a nice 383 LS1.

the ford 302 that came in 87-93 mustangs are very nice motors. in stock form they came with 225hp and 300ft lbs of torque!! they are also very reliable to 200,000miles. and in stock form even with 100+k miles they can still handle 125shot of nitrous without having a problem...

1.3L Wankel Turbo

Turbocharged 4.3L (cyclones and typhoons (its a 350-2cyl))

3.4L (Grand National)

LS1

351C

Chevy 302

Honda C32II (Legend, NSX)

Modular 4cam 4.6L

Northstar V8

Hands down the most impressionable display of torque i was ever fortunate to ride in was the TNT King Snake Viper, completelty inspired me to keep going to school.

wErd: I believe ss3079 ment that it was a 350 V8 design with two cylinders taken off; hence the "350 - 2cyl."

O.K., Lets add a little flavor to this; here's a "Dream-mod" list of just some of the set up's I'd like to try from some different makers or shops.

Street setups:

Saleen S281-E motor & six-speed in my truck (He-He) (Sleeper city)

(FYI: Custom built 4.6 w/15 psi intercooled Lysholm blower)

or an S281-E Mustang will do also; not a sleeper though.

Pontiac T/A with 383 stroker, LS6 heads & Lunati cam

97-01 Honda Prelude H22; bullet-proofed motor with heavy boost turbo

The new Mazdaspeed Miata turbo with more boost and a better intercooler

Subaru WRX STI 2.5 ltr. Modded for 400+ hp.

BMW E36 M3 with a single turbo kit

Would like to see the Mustang get the short-deck 5.0 V-10 Ford's working on.

VW 4th gen. GTI w/24-valve VR6 and HPA stage 2 single turbo kit

A '69 Ford Mustang or Mercury Cougar XR-7 with a "Bad-as-I-wanna-be" big-block V8 (I can get away with it in Texas!). Maybe a 390 or a 427, with a sniff of nitrous.

Extreme setups:

Ford 347 stroker with a big single turbo & fuel injection in a SN93 mustang.

VW GTI 2.8 or 3.2 (R32) 24-valve VR6 with HPA stage 2 twin turbo kit & AWD

Twin turbo 427 in a T/A, or a 'Vett

Fully modded 2JZ-GTE Single turbo Toyota Supra

Mazda Miata with a Ford 302 or Mazda B13 turbo wankel (Might be street-able)

See just how much power the Subaru 2.5 turbo WRX STI really can make.

That's all I can think of right now. Later. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/cool.gif.3bcaf8f141236c00f8044d07150e34f7.gif

the chevy 427 is a very powerful motor and i really like the 377 destroked 400 small block chevy it'll make more power than most big blocks if build right..............

oh and one more thing a supercharger will make any motor have more power ( get blown or get blown away) but the rice burners cant run with any real car....

my car is a 1969 el camino 327 small block chevy 330 horsepower at the rear wheels wanna race

take care

I never said a supercharger wouldnt make more power on any engine, i stated the fact that a turbo will produce more hp than a supercharger on any engine.

Okay, let me understand this a guy with an El Camino is stating that rice burners cant run with any real car, I would consider any ricer even one of those Scion things more of a real car than an El Camino. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/sick.gif.b1847c8dabbfeeddbcf1a78052249e10.gif

If your 327 does render 330hp im happy for you, but I could say my 91 Legend makes a 1000hp, but it doesnt. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

el caminos are actually badass...atleast the pre-1973 ones...nothin like a 454 Big Block SS. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif
